A brief description of the program, including examples of peer-to-peer outreach activities:
Every 12-18 months we hold a sustainable office certification program for faculty and staff. We incentivize participation them with awards, certificates and recognition. Although our program varies from year-to-year to ensure new learning opportunities each year, the essential elements of the program include: * development of details and framework for the program and recruiting/publicity by staff and interns in the Institute for a Sustainable Environment (ISE) * identification of departmental liaison(s) who are trained and * liaisons bring materials to their departments through targeted sustainability meetings or as part of departmental meetings The targeted sustainability practices and mode of training vary. Most recently, we have provided on-line training for liaisons through a Moodle site and financed LEED Green Classrooms certification to provide more in-depth training for departmental liaisons. Both of those systems were time-intensive and we found that staff, who were typical liaisons, were not comfortable with Moodle. The current program uses Excel with extensive required links for on-line training. The department-wide training/discussions are required in order to receive sustainable certification for the department. The liaison ensures that within department meetings there is someone leading a discussion with their peers about sustainability practices within the department. The number of people who were served is based on the number of people in the departments in the program. All departments on campus are given handouts and receive campus announcements about the program, encouraging them to join.

They volunteer to be a department liaison for the Sustainable Office Certification program. In some cases, the department chair appoints someone.

A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:
During the Sustainable Office Certification program, department liaisons meet directly with the campus Sustainability Coordinator and are provided access to on-line training materials (Moodle, LEED, Excel) for the formal training. The LEED program was the most intensive iteration, with the training lasting 4-5 hours.

A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or paid faculty/staff coordination):
The institution provides labor from ISE staff and student intern to develop and coordinate the program. There are incentives (prizes, a meal) for departments that engage in the program as well. The institution paid the fee for each participant in the LEED training during that iteration of the program.

Our Green Labs program has peer to peer education as a component (using short videos). Our diversity and inclusion officer gives training to all incoming faculty and staff. Starting next year she will give mandatory trainings to all faculty and staff.

We have had 21-42 departments participate in recent years. The number of participates included above is the minimum for our recent years efforts (350-468 people in departments with SOC liaisons) Information about this program is buried in our campus Intranet Pages.
