A brief description of how the literacy assessment was developed and/or when it was adopted:
This assessment was created by faculty, staff and student interns in the Institute for a Sustainable Environment at Clarkson to help all members of our community stay abreast of our local recycling program. The learning materials and assessment were developed based on our current waste management rules.

A brief description of how a representative sample was reached (if applicable) and how the assessment(s) were administered :
This assessment is part of sustainable waste management that is pushed to all students at the Potsdam campus. All students at the Potsdam Clarkson campus are auto-enrolled into the course through Moodle. The ISE pushes the survey out in many different ways such as through first year events and raffles.

A brief summary of results from the literacy assessment(s):
This survey was administered in the fall of 2021 through spring of 2023. The assessment was out of 17 points. The students could take the assessment up to 3 times and their highest score was reported.
2021 (n=645) average score of 15.71 (92%)
2022 (n=159) average score of 15.54 (91%)
2023 (n=144) average score of 15.73 (92%)
