Which of the following best describes the structure of the cultural assessment? The assessment is administered::
A brief description of how and when the cultural assessment(s) were developed and/or adopted:
The survey began with a desire for a committee from graduate student government, which grew to include interest from undergraduate student government and the University’s Sustainability Committee. The Director of Assessment for the Division of Student Affairs works with undergraduate and graduate student government when there is an interest and need to survey students about opinions, behaviors, etc. to identify if there is any existing data and if not, develop a tool to collect the desired information. If the information includes engagement or usage of university services, the Director of Assessment encourages collaboration on the front end to determine if that information exists and if not, co-develop questions that the administrators can also benefit from after data collection. Topics of the instrument included print habits, parking and transportation, recycling habits, etc.

A brief description of how representative samples were reached (if applicable) and how the cultural assessment is administered:
In the spring semester of 2021, Director of Assessment deployed the survey using Baseline (a module of Anthology – formerly Campus Labs) via a mass mail option that allowed for those who hadn’t completed the survey to receive reminders.
A brief summary of results from the cultural assessment:
The results of the survey showed that many students at Clemson are in support of sustainability and protecting the environment. We got to understand student's perspectives and daily habits regarding printing/paper usage, parking and transportation, and recycling. The survey also included insights from students on how they want the university to improve sustainability at various levels. The overall takeaway was positive from the sustainability culture aspect but a push to improve on our sustainability actors/enforcers. There was no follow-up survey, so we did not measure changes over time.
