A brief description of the incentive program(s):
Through 2017 and 2019, the first two years of the Quality Enhancement Plan ("Sustainability Literacy as a Bridge to Addressing 21st-Century Problems"), College of Charleston faculty members have taught 45 sustainability focused courses across disciplines. In addition, faculty members taught 40 sustainability related courses in these two academic years.
Faculty members designed many courses to relate to annual campus-wide sustainability themes, including water quality and quantity, social justice and fair distribution, and food security.

A brief description of the incentives that academic staff who participate in the program(s) receive:
The College's Quality Enhancement Plan provides financial incentives and logistical support for academic faculty and staff supporting efforts to advance sustainability literacy. These incentives include: a 1-day training held every May; an efficient and easy-to-use online reporting system, faculty-peer support via key staff positions (a Faculty Development Fellow, Sustainability Literacy Institute Director); and, a comprehensive and informative proposal process for sustainability focused and related courses.
A faculty member can earn as much as $600 in additional pay for teaching a sustainability focused course. He/she/they can earn $400 for a sustainability focused course, and he/she/they can earn as much as $750 in additional pay for learning a learning community that comprises of two focused courses and student matriculation.
