A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:
The University of New Hampshire’s SIMAP program is the tool used to complete our FY21 GHG emissions inventory.
Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
No

A brief description of how the institution accounted for its Scope 3 emissions:
Directly financed air travel was calculated using airline costs for all faculty, staff and students who traveled within FY21 for the College of Charleston. It also included personal mileage reimbursement and rental car mileage provided by the College’s preferred vendor, Enterprise as well as non-state employee air travel that was paid for by the College - considered part of the financial control model.
Paper purchasing was calculated using reams purchased annually. Waste was calculated using monthly weight tickets provided to us from our waste hauler. Both of these netted essentially zero, however, we did include them in our inventories.
Study abroad travel was calculated using a list of all countries traveled to through study abroad and the associated number of students that traveled to each country.
Wastewater was calculated using water consumption annually and T&D Losses (included in "emission from fuel & energy related activities") were calculated directly from SIMAP.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
A portion of these data were collected during the COVID-19 pandemic, and are likely affected due to factors such as reduced travel and less energy usage for semesters that had reduced activities.
