A brief description of the on-site renewable electricity generating facilities/devices:
1. 25kW: COA currently has a residential 2.4kW wind turbine, installed by students enrolled in the Practicum in Wind Power course, as well as nine solar arrays, installed by students enrolled in several different courses covering renewable energy, totaling 25kW of rated peak capacity.
2. 50kW: The college has 50kW of solar capacity, installed by ReVision Energy of Liberty, Maine under a Power Purchase agreement, on its Kathryn W. Davis Student Housing and at its nearby Peggy Rockefeller Farms.
3. 103kW: COA’s most recently constructed building, the Davis Center for Human Ecology, has 103kW of installed solar on the roof under a Power Purchase agreement with ReVision Energy of Liberty, Maine.

A brief description of the clean and renewable stationary fuels:
In 2008, COA installed a 535,000 Btu central wood pellet boiler that provides heat and domestic hot water to 28,500 square feet of building space, including Katherine W Davis student residences and Deering Common. The wood pellets are manufactured in Maine, and are 100% wood, including clean wood chips and sawdust from sawmills. They contain no additives or binders, such as oil or plastic. COA’s most recently constructed building, the 29,000 square foot Davis Center for Human Ecology, is entirely electric, and therefore does not use stationary fuel. COA is currently transitioning other buildings on campus from heating oil to air source heat pumps.
