A brief description of the methodology used to determine the total number of courses offered and to identify sustainability course offerings, including the definitions used and the process for reviewing and/or validating the course inventory :
The 2018-2019 class schedule was used to compile the number of course offered. To identify sustainability courses, the class descriptions were carefully reviewed for content and topics. Definitions of sustainability courses were taken from Sustainability Focused (T1 designation) or Sustainability Related (T2 designation) definitions for Colorado College, which were designed to be in line with STARS course designations. Sustainability Related courses meet one or two of the sustainability learning objectives. Sustainability Focused courses meet three or more of the sustainability learning objectives. Objectives can be found at https://www.coloradocollege.edu/offices/sustainability/academics/ Not all courses listed are designated, but are eligible to be designated should the faculty of record so choose; not all faculty choose to list their course.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
The Office of Sustainability has implemented a course designation for sustainability-focused and sustainability-related courses. The designation was written by a group of students, faculty, and staff that was part of the Sustainability Action Team appointed by the president during the 2013-2014 academic year. A number of courses, mostly ones that were developed by faculty as part of the Sustainability Across the Curriculum Workshop, have gone through the designation process. In addition to the courses developed in the Sustainability Across the Curriculum workshop, an intern at the Office of Sustainability goes through the course catalog and identifies courses that may be either sustainability focused or sustainability related and contacts the professor to ask them to fill out the course designation application (https://www.coloradocollege.edu/offices/sustainability/academics/curriculum/). These courses are listed on the college's webpage https://www.coloradocollege.edu/offices/sustainability/academics/curriculum/sustainability-courses/. However, the designation is not yet included in the course catalog or on student transcripts.
