A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :

Process for Academic Courses Inventory:

A course list was gathered from the assistant registrar at Colorado Mountain College. This course list included all courses offered during the 2021 Fall and 2022 Spring terms. The list included the number of students in each section taught. As per the technical manual, courses were only counted if they were taught.

The spreadsheet uploaded above shows courses that have been excluded from the final count. These courses include duplicate courses, individually-directed courses (e.g., thesis, independent study, practicum), courses of four or fewer students, special topics courses (e.g., courses that address emerging issues or specialized content and that are not offered on an ongoing basis), courses that are strictly practice-oriented such as medical courses dedicated to clinical practice, art courses dedicated to performance, technique, or composition, physical education courses that are activity-based, and trades courses dedicated to hands-on learning or practice.

The course must have had at least 5 people attending to be counted as a course. Each course that was included in the final course count was determined to be either sustainability-focused, inclusive, or neither. Sustainability-focused and inclusive courses were determined through the definitions and examples provided in the STARS technical manual. They must have included the word 'sustainability' or included topics relevant to sustainability issues if the word 'sustainability' was not used.

Process for Academic Departments Inventory:

In addition to an academic course inventory, the STARS technical manual and reporting tool ask for academic departments that offer sustainability courses. An academic department inventory list was created from a 'departments and faculty' document for CMC which can be found in the 'additional documentation to support the submission' folder. The department list is found in the documentation uploaded above. The department inventory is highlighted in purple and the departments that include sustainability course offerings are marked with a red x. Each department at CMC was analyzed to determine if any sustainability-focused or inclusive courses were offered. If a department included at least one sustainability-inclusive or focused course, the department was marked with a red X and counted as a sustainability-inclusive department. If a dept. did not include sustainability it was not marked with a red x. There is an explanation box that explains the reasoning.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each course was counted as a single course regardless of the number of offerings or sections
