Please note that the audited financial statement attached here is NOT about an "investment pool." Rather, it details the college's overall financial situation. As it spells out, over 80% of our operating costs come from an annual mill levy consisting of property taxes for residences and businesses in our service district, which spans seven counties in Western Colorado. The remaining funding comes from a combination of federal grants and Colorado state sources. None of these monies -- neither the tax levy, nor the grants or state funds -- are put into corporate stocks via mutual funds or other investment portfolios; rather, they are spent on the operating costs incurred by the college. Separately, the CMC Foundation does manage investments and donations, as reported at the link included here. These Foundation monies support scholarships, capital campaigns and other opportunities for CMC students, but they do not contribute to operating expenses.
