Colorado State's Office of Inclusive Excellence includes the following officers: the Vice President for Inclusive Excellence, Associate Vice President for Inclusive Excellence, and three Assistant Vice Presidents for Inclusive Excellence. The office of Inclusive Excellence is committed to fostering an inclusive campus environment through the active engagement of Colorado State University employees and students.
The office oversees inclusive excellence provides trainings for students and employees, manages Student Diversity Programs and Services, hosts the annual Diversity Symposium, supports the development of university and unit diversity plans, conducts the Campus Climate Survey, and oversees the Commission on Diversity and Inclusion to make policy change recommendations and develop new university-wide initiatives.
The President's Commission on Diversity and Inclusion has broad representation from across campus including the Associate VP of Inclusive Excellence, undergraduate and graduate students, academic colleges, employee councils, and divisions and administration units across the university including Athletics, Enrollment and Access, Student Affairs, Graduate School, Student Diversity Offices and Programs, Human Resources, Advancement, International Programs, and Equal Opportunity. The committee's mission is "Serve as the institutional conscience for inclusive policies, programs, procedures, and services. The Commission is a catalyst for change that enhances the campus climate for all people and removes persistent barriers that inhibit the success of members of our campus community, especially those from underrepresented and historically marginalized populations. In the unending pursuit of Colorado State’s Land Grant mission, the Commission holds the University accountable for promoting inclusion, integrity, respect, service, and social justice, which are the tenets of the Principles of Community."
Other Inclusive Excellence committees and subcommittees include Recruitment, Hiring and Retention, Disaggregating Identity Data, Pronoun Statement, The Policies and Practices for Transgender Support, Translation and Interpretation, Assessment Group for Diversity Issues, Bias Assessment Team, Bystander Intervention Group, Campus Climate Committee, Consultation Team for Incidents of Bias, Diversity Symposium Planning Committee, First Generation University Initiative, Inclusive Physical and Virtual Campus Committee, Operations Team for Diversity, Recruitment and Retention of Diverse Employees, and the Transition Coordinating Committee.

As a land-grant University we are committed to a foundational principle of inclusive excellence recognizing that our institutional success depends on how well we welcome, value, and affirm all members of the Colorado State community. To this end, diversity and inclusion training is included in the mandatory student orientation for all students and is also required for all Colorado State employees including State Classified, Administrative Professional, Faculty, and student employees. A wide range of trainings, workshops, professional development, and speakers are featured on campus each year. Specific examples include:

In addition to ongoing trainings throughout the year, the annual Diversity Symposium in the fall and Professional Development Institute in early spring provide high-profile, no cost trainings in cultural competence for faculty, staff, and students that range from cross-cultural communication to understanding the interconnections between race, religion, sexual orientation, and gender. In Fall 2020, 2,500 attendees took part in sessions given by over 50 presenters at the Diversity Symposium.
All employees of the Colorado State University community (students, faculty, and staff employees) are required to complete an online training for sexual harassment that includes the federal law as well as CSU campus policy and expectations. The training goes through various scenarios to explore topic areas and includes cultural competence topics. A confidential test component at the end of the training provides a certificate for those who pass. Equal Opportunity tracks certificates and requires employees to retake the training until they receive the certificate. Training is available via the web site 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and in-person training is also provided as an alternative multiple times a year. The Division of Equal Opportunity administers the training and tracks all employees to ensure all staff have completed the training. Several departments on campus have also put a refresher requirement into place to ensure staff receive refresher training at regular intervals.
