In 2013, members of the President’s Executive Group of Concordia drafted a Sustainability Governance Framework to provide strategic direction in integrating sustainability within the university’s decision-making process.
The Sustainability Governance Framework oversaw the creation of the latest Concordia Campus Sustainability Assessment (CCSA). The purpose of all CCSA reports is to showcase the current sustainability situation of the University and propose recommendations to further sustainability at Concordia. Each version of the report builds in part on the previous one while also including new elements representing the evolving reality of sustainability at Concordia University.
In 2014, the Sustainability Governance Framework created and approved the University's official definition of sustainability on campus (see http://www.concordia.ca/about/sustainability/strategic.html)
The Sustainability Governance Framework is currently involved in the elaboration of Concordia's sustainability policy.

Operational and Environmental Sustainability Sub-Committee:
- Key functions: space usage, resource consumption, environmental sustainability, environmental safety.
Community Engagement Sub-Committee:
- Key functions: community engagement, community relations, social communication systems.
Teaching, Learning and Research Sustainability Sub-Committee:
- Key functions: coordinate teaching, learning and research sustainability activities, prioritize initiatives.

Sustainability Coordinator:
- The Sustainability Coordinator serves as a facilitator in the University's move towards sustainability, acting through a collaborative process involving staff, students, faculty and administrators especially in regards of academic and students projects.
Environmental Coordinator:
- The Environmental Coordinator is responsible for developing, overseeing and facilitating the implementation of plans and strategies related to R4 (rethink, reduce, reuse, recycle). This includes, among others, composting, recycling and sustainable waste management operations.
Sustainable Food System Coordinator:
- The Sustainable Food System Coordinator work with a diversity of internal food system stakeholders including contracted food service providers and student operations to identify local purchasing need and opportunities and actualize localized sustainable strategies to meet them.
Sustainability Analyst:
- The Sustainability Analyst is responsible for all aspects of sustainability assessment at the university, including the planning, coordination, and execution of research, reports, and surveys that serve to assess the state of sustainability of the university
