Carbon sinks were determined at one location, Dallas College Richland Campus, by the Texas Trees Foundation with support by Alliance Data and the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
The amount of carbon sequestered is reported as the local offset for a carbon sink of trees on the Richland Campus, LeCroy Center, and the Tree Farm Education Center.
The net benefits of the trees on the Richland Campus are:
- Stormwater Monetary Benefit: $14,967
- Runoff Prevention: 2,111,190 gallons
- Energy Savings by Shading: $10,134, 145,729 kWh
- Air Quality Monetary Benefit: $2,559
- Pollution Removed: 1,698 lbs
- Carbon Monetary Benefit: $1,484
- Carbon Stored: 313,809 lbs
- Carbon Sequestered: 202,923 lbs
- Carbon Avoided: 139,094 lbs

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:
The baseline year of FY2007-08 was the first year some of the campuses started reporting greenhouse emissions. However, the emissions inventories were conducted independently and varied widely. Therefore, this baseline year FY2018-19 is the first comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions report of Dallas College.
