A brief description of the institution’s formal participatory or shared governance bodies:
The Board of Trustees consists of seven elected voting members and the Chancellor as the eighth non-voting member. The Board defines the vision of the college, serves as a liaison between the college and the community, approves annual budgets, and sets policies. The Board seeks feedback from the various stakeholder groups of Dallas College; Student Government Association, Faculty Association, Staff Association, Administrators Council, and any individual in the community wishing to speak on issues concerning Dallas College.
Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the voice of the student body. SGA is also a model of government and source of leadership development. SGA members learn to run for office, help make decisions about your campus, and share the needs and concerns of fellow students with campus and college leadership. Faculty Association missions is to:
· Improve Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) faculty members’ professional abilities
· Secure better salaries and working conditions
· Sponsor seminars and courses for members
· Participate in teacher conventions

· Ensure academic freedom

Professional Support Staff Executive Council and PSSA Chapters- The PSS Executive Council (PSSEC) serves as the executive body of the district’s Professional Support Staff Association (PSSA). The council membership consists of presidents from each local chapter (Brookhaven campus, Cedar Valley campus, Eastfield campus, El Centro campus, Mountain View campus, North Lake campus, Richland campus, District College Administration, District Service Center and the LeCroy Center.) Officers at the council level consist of a council president, council vice president, council secretary and council treasurer. Each are elected by current council members.

The Administrators Council meets once per month with College leadership, Chancellor May and Chief Human Resources Officer Sherri Enright. The Administrators Council provides a forum for identifying opportunities to promote best practices in areas such as: professional development, communication among personnel, collaboration and innovation, and process improvement

The Dallas College Board of Trustees is a seven-member publicly elected board. Trustees are elected by Dallas County voters and voters cast their ballots to voice their opinions on who should make strategic, high-level institutional decisions. Board meetings include a public comment period at each meeting for community stakeholders to speak on specific priorities.
Dallas College has Industry Advisory Boards (IABs) for specific education and workforce programs that recruit community members to serve and guide program development. Each technical workforce program is required to have an Industry Advisory Board (IAB). Hundreds of citizens have made commitments to advise Dallas College to help guide alignment with community needs and priorities.
