A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
Total Course Counts
Total course count information was provided by Dawn Bains, Manager, Business Intelligence & Data Analytics for Douglas College. The course counts were provided for Academic year 2020-2021, and were provided in both unique course offerings as well as section offerings. This submission counts unique course offerings as opposed to section offerings (see next section for a rationale for this decision).
Methodology
- Only courses that actually ran were included, so any courses with no registrations were removed.
- Excluded CAMP courses, which are Continuing education (CE), but are basically summer camps for kids
Sustainability Course Counts
The sustainability course inventory was created by two key steps:
1) a desktop research exercise was undertaken, with course descriptions assessed for inclusion using the UN Sustainability Development Goals as a screening criteria. Any course that were applicable to one or more SDG were included in the inventory of Sustainability courses.
2) a draft of the inventory was sent to a faculty committee, which reviewed, edited, and added courses to the list where applicable.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each course was counted as a single course regardless of the number of offerings or sections
A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted:
Course counts were provided by Dawn Bains, Manager, Business Intelligence & Data Analytics for Douglas College. The course counts were provided for Academic year 2020-2021, and were provided in both unique course offerings as well as section offerings.
Given that our sustainability course inventory was developed using unique course offerings, we decided to use that approach instead of counting each section offering.
