A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
Douglas College provides orientation and onboarding to 100% of our new employees (Auxiliaries, Regular Staff, Contract Faculty, Regular Faculty, Contract Employees) and all of them are also given access to our employee intranet (DC Connect) where there would be information on sustainability topics and initiatives at the College.

Our new employee onboarding is conducted via the following:
1.Completion of mandatory forms and training, via an online onboarding system (Employment Portal)
There is a task in the system for the new employee to log-in to the employee intranet, DC Connect and review the materials in the “New to Douglas” page. In this page would be information related to departments handling sustainability.
DC Connect also has regular articles on social responsibility/sustainability initiatives and resources for all employees to read and be guided by.
2. Attendance to HR’s New Employee JumpStart sessions (held every Monday morning), where new employees hired the past week attend a 45-minute session. Part of this session is provision of information for a greener campus.
