Health and Wellbeing
Douglas college holds a series of 8 workshops offered over the academic year to support employee health and mental wellness. The series supplements the health resources and training available on our intranet and through Homeweb/Homewood Health (EFAP provider). Additionally, Douglas College employees may access resources through Not Myself Today
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
Douglas College has partnered with Inclusive Excellence Strategy Solutions to offer EDI training to all Administrators. The learning series includes 4 core courses and 3 microaggression workshops—courses.
Indigenization
Douglas College offers annual training and workshops on Indigenization to employees. Douglas is currently developing an Indigenization Professional Development Framework as part of the College’s 2020-2025 Strategic Plan Initiative 3.1.4. Additionally, Douglas Indigenization Resource Repository has a list of courses, training and resources for employees to pursue self-directed learning
Professional Development Day and Speaker Series Week
Douglas College Speaker Series Week has keynotes and workshops hosted in November, December and April each year and open to all College employees. Each year Douglas has a different theme, the previous 2 years the theme was Indigenization, this year the theme is Employee Health and Wellness.

A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :
At Douglas College, employees may apply for professional development funding to take external professional development opportunities in sustainability. For example, employees have applied to complete the San’yas Anti-Racism Indigenous Cultural Safety training program: San'yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Online Training (sanyas.ca) and UBC’s Principled Engagement with Indigenous People. Staff may apply for $1500 per fiscal year in funding. Administrators may apply for $500 per fiscal year in funding, unused funds accumulate are carried forward to the next fiscal. Sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff.
