A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the municipal/local level:
Douglas College is a member of the Post-Secondary Institution Coalition on Transit.
This is a coalition of Lower Mainland PSIs (Simon Fraser University, British Columbia Institute of Technology, Douglas College, University of British Columbia, Vancouver Community College, Langara College, Kwantlen College, Capilano College, Emily Carr University of Art and Design)that meet to define opportunities to influence transit policy, transit advocacy, opportunities and hurdles that impact the PSI sector in regards to transit locally and regionally.
Most recent collaborative activity included co-authoring a letter to Translink in support of its Transit 2050 plan and, more specifically, the Ten-Year Priorities Plan outlining projects proposed for implementation in the next ten years. This was co-signed by the presidents of all aforementioned institutions.
