No written policies, plans or guidelines, but green infrastructure and LID practices are used
A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:
Douglas College does not have internal policies or guidelines related to green infrastructure and low impact development practices at this time. However, best practices related to rainwater management have been implemented recently on campus, and rainwater management practices are a requirement of the respective municipalities that Douglas College resides in (City of New Westminster and City of Coquitlam) and the College needs to adhere to meet or exceed their requirements.
Green infrastructure and low-impact development practices that have been implemented on campus include:
- green roofs at both the New Westminster and Coquitlam campuses, and more are planned to be added where feasible
- rain gardens have been implemented in boulevards where possible and as part of new construction
