Duquesne University, the largest Catholic university in Pittsburgh, has approved its new annual budget that will raise its minimum wage to $16 per hour effective Wednesday, July 1, 2015. The budget also includes two new benefits:
-An extra .5 percent increase for all employees making less than $34,000 annually
-A $500 University contribution into employee dependent-care flexible spending accounts.
"These measures can benefit our full-time employees by assisting them with extra expenses related to care for children before and after school; elder care; and help for dependents who are unable to care for themselves," said Duquesne University President Dr. Charles J. Dougherty.
