A brief description of political donations the institution made during the previous three years (if applicable):
As a publicly funded organization, provincial legislation prevents Durham College from making political donations or using college dollars on political activities. The college has a non-partisan approach to politics – it works with politicians at all levels and from all parties. Our approach is that we are a resource to politicians and we provide support and information where needed, along with updating them on our priorities. Because of this non-partisan approach, we are often sought out to sit on political committees. As two examples, our president was asked to sit on a Region Government Committee looking at the composition of Regional Council, and he was also asked to moderate a community session about GO Train expansion through our region. In both cases, he was asked to take part because of his approach to being a community builder who works with all types of organizations and interests.
