A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:
Not counting the 5,561 students that lived on campus during Fiscal Year 2016, we used the same estimated percentages that were reported in the Campus Carbon Calculator to determine GHG emissions associated with commuter travel. The total percentage was based on the assumption that, other than the 4,828 parking permits issued to students, the remaining students commuted using more sustainable commuting options such as walking, biking, carpooling, or taking the bus.
