Yes
A brief description of the bicycle and pedestrian plan or policy:
East Carolina University's Campus Bicycle Plan has been developed to make the campus more bikeable through a variety of facility improvement and program development recommendations. The Plan is a master plan of physical improvements and administrative programs to meet the long-term transportation needs of ECU. It is also focused on implementation, with specific projects that have been detailed and prioritized. The Plan will be used by multiple campus organizations working together to improve the campus' transportation system and to achieve the University's commitment to effective movement for a pedestrian-friendly central campus as defined in the Physical Master Plan.
More information is available here: http://www.ecu.edu/bikes/ecu_cbp_reportfinal_revised.pdf
Does the institution have a bicycle-sharing program or participate in a local bicycle-sharing program?:
Yes
A brief description of the bicycle sharing program:
East Carolina University Parking & Transportation Services is happy to offer Pirate BikeShare! This program has been going strong since August 2009, with improvements made to the program along the way. It was developed for faculty, staff and students to increase options for mobility around the ECU campus without the need to use an automobile.
Every semester, our office collects all the old, abandoned bicycles on campus. Most of these bikes are missing wheels, seats, chains, etc. We make several attempts to contact the owner. After a certain amount of time without luck in reaching the owner, the bike becomes property of the state. We then pay for the bicycles to be repaired, paint them the awesome ECU purple and gold, and enter them into the Pirate BikeShare program!
With the Pirate BikeShare program, interested individuals then come to the Parking & Transportation office at 305 E. 10th Street to complete a registration fee to lease the bike for the entire semester! At that time, the individual will pay a non-refundable either $30 administration fee for either the Fall or Spring semesters, $20 for the Summer, or $50 for the academic year. Once the bike is signed off on, it becomes the responsibility of the renter. At the end of the lease, the bike has to be returned to our office. As of October 2014, we have purchased 10 brand new bikes for our Pirate Bike program. The new bikes are shown below. As you can see, we have not painted them. The rental price for the new bikes is $40 for the semester and $60 for the academic year. We are proud to have these additions to our program and plan on purchasing more brand new bikes in the future!

Mass Transit Programs
Yes
A brief description of the mass transit programs:
ECU's own transit system, one of the top 10 largest passenger carrying fleets in North Carolina, transports over 2.5 million riders annually. ECU Transit operates during the academic year, including both summer sessions, to serve both the main and medical campuses. It's fare free; all you need to ride is your 1 Card.
Even if ECU buses can't get you where you need to go, try Greenville Area Transit (GREAT). Discount passes are available at the Central Ticket Office inside Mendenhall Student Center.
More information is available here: http://www.ecu.edu/cs-studentaffairs/transit/go_green.cfm
Guaranteed Return Trip Program
Yes
A brief description of the guaranteed return trip program:
ECU Transit offers a SafeRide program, which serves to facilitate a safe and reliable evening commuting environment in the ECU/Greenville area by providing students, staff, faculty and visitors with a fare-free method of transportation to their homes/residences or vehicles. It also serves to facilitate safe and reliable evening movement around the ECU campus. When the day is done, home is just a phone call away. SafeRide is a point-to-point, demand-response van service operating as a division of ECU Transit. This service works to efficiently supplement the bus system at night to maximize safety after regular daytime service has ended.

Carpool/Vanpool Programs
Yes
A brief description of the carpool/vanpool program:
Zimride is a ride-sharing network that helps members of the ECU community find, post, and coordinate carpooling alternatives to individual transportation needs. Zimride, like other networking websites, provides a central location for finding out about member-posted ride needs and offers, and helps get individuals connected for a mutually beneficial ride arrangement. Membership registration is not required. All you need to log in is your ECU PirateID and passphrase. This also means that you will be connecting only with members of the ECU community, giving you the most efficient and relevant ride options.

Car Sharing Program
Yes
None
A brief description of the car sharing program:
Enterprise CarShare. It is perfect for students, faculty and staff that do not have a car on campus. Membership is not limited to those people without a car, though! Some members enjoy the Enterprise CarShare vehicles to save money on gas, lower the wear and tear on their own vehicles, and/or for the luxury of driving a brand new hybrid or fuel-efficient car! Members pay an affordable hourly rate which includes gas and insurance. The process to rent is simple: vehicles are reserved online, accessed using a membership card and returned to the same location where it was picked up. Together with ECU Parking, Enterprise CarShare continues to help students, faculty and staff reduce the congestion, fuel consumption and vehicle emissions for a cleaner, greener campus! The Enterprise CarShare vehicles include 2 brand new fuel-efficient vehicles to include: a Honda Civic and a Toyota Corolla! Both vehicles are available on the main campus. One is located in the Mamie Jenkins parking lot, next to the Old Cafeteria Building. The other one is located in the first space in the parking lot in front of Aycock Residence Hall on College Hill.

Telecommuting and Condensed Work Week Programs
Yes
None
A brief description of the telecommuting program:
ECU Department of Human Resources offers a "Teleworking Application / Agreement" that is between the employee noted below and ECU. The purpose of this agreement is to specify the terms and conditions applicable to the arrangement for performing compensable work at an alternate work site on a regular basis. The alternate work sites, such as an employee’s home, are not provided for or maintained by ECU.
More information is available here: http://www.ecu.edu/cs-admin/humanresources/customcf/Forms/Employee_Relations_Forms/ECU_Telework_Agreement.pdf
Does the institution offer a condensed work week option that reduces employee commuting (as a matter of policy or standard practice)?:
Yes
A brief description of the condensed work week option:
While maintaining core service hours is part of our mission, ECU also recognizes that many of our employees value flexibility in work scheduling. The university supports flexibility in the development of individual work schedules as long as the overall responsibilities of the unit, division, and University are not compromised. Understanding that all University offices and operations need to be fully functional every day, the University encourages supervisors and employees to develop flexible work arrangements that meet the needs of their unit. Options for the Flexible Work Schedules include:
A. Compressed workweek (work 40 hrs in less than 5 full days)
(Note: full-day work schedules need to have a lunch break of at least 30 minutes)
EXAMPLES:
1. 4.5 day workweek
a) 9 hrs per day (anytime between 7am and 6pm) for 4 days (Mon-Thurs or Tues-Fri)
b) 4 hrs on the short day (either Monday afternoon or Friday morning)
2. 4 day workweek (any day M-F can be the day off)
a) 10 hrs per day (Ex: 7am-6pm with a 1hr lunch; or 7am-5:30pm with a 30 min lunch)
B. Rotating or Intermittent Flex Workweeks
(Note: Rotating/intermittent workweeks need to be based on 40 hours per week and 80 hours of work over a two week period for full-time employees.)
EXAMPLES:
1. Staff members rotate workweek schedules (some weeks the schedule is normal 8am-5pm; other weeks the schedule is a compressed 4.5 day or 4 day workweek).
2. Staff members use flex workweek schedules on an intermittent basis (most workweeks are the normal 8am to 5pm, but selected weeks are compressed to 4.5 or 4 days)
