ECU added the NSSE Sustainability Education Consortium to our survey of first-year students and seniors in 2018. We plan to add this module to the NSSE moving forward, which the University sends out on a 3-year cycle.

ECU sends out the NSSE to all first year students and seniors on a 3-year cycle so the survey results do not represent all undergraduate students nor does it include any employees.
A brief summary of results from the cultural assessment:
ECU's consortium comparison group included the following 7 universities: Chatham University, James Madison University, SUNY College at Oneonta, Tennessee State University, Texas A&M International University, University of Central Oklahoma, and Widener University. Of the 20 questions asked in the NSSE Sustainability Education Consortium, compared to the consortium comparison group, ECU's first-year students had a lower mean score that was statistically significant on 5 questions versus ECU's seniors who only had a lower mean score that was statistically significant on 1 question.
