The University Sustainability Manager is funded to attend multiple training opportunities each year, including the annual AASHE Conference. In addition, other staff within Facilities, Dining, Parking, Transit, Grounds, and other Campus Living and Campus Operations units attend the Appalachian Energy Summit every summer and many also attend conferences with sustainability tracks in their own fields of practice.

There are only a handful of positions (e.g. sustainability manager, director of facilities, energy manager, bikeshare coordinator, recycling coordinator, and grounds and utility shop supervisors) that have sustainability metrics in the annual performance reviews.
