A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction:
Elon University regularly conducts evaluations to gain information and enhance services for employees.
The Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) Faculty Survey gathers faculty perspectives on institutional climate, sources of stress and satisfaction, student interaction and teaching methods. This survey is conducted every three years, with the most recent administration in 2011. The next anticipated participation year is 2014.
The Staff Advisory Council has conducted a survey (Fall 2011) and a number of focus groups (2012-2013) on employee satisfaction to gather feedback about the general work environment at Elon.
The Elon University Health Insurance Survey is administered annually by Human Resources, with assistance from Institutional Research, to assess satisfaction with employee benefits and the university's wellness program. It was last administered in April 2013.
Elon has participated in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s survey, Great Colleges To Work For, which measures the extent to which employees are involved and engaged in the organization and ultimately, the quality of the workplace experience. Elon’s last participation in this survey was 2011. The next anticipated participation year is 2014. The News and Record Top Workplaces survey, in which Elon participated in 2011, explores communication with employees, satisfaction with benefits and satisfaction with employer, senior management and supervisor, with an overall satisfaction rating.
