The baseline was adopted to reflect Emerson's current size, both in terms of number of buildings and number of employees.

A brief description of the institution’s workplace health and safety initiatives, including how workers are engaged in monitoring and advising on health and safety programs:
Emerson College Safety Committee Overview The Safety Committee’s primary goals are to identify, educate and develop safety initiatives, procedures, and adoption of best practices to reduce, mitigate or eliminate safety risks. Virtually the entire Emerson Community has a representative on the committee as follows: Athletics Facilities Human Resources Emerson Police Health and Wellness Admissions and recruiting Students Legal IT Theater – Office of the Arts Title IX Dean’s Office Emergency Management The Safety committee meets minimally four times a year, in general the third month of every quarter. The committee provided funding for the purchase of AED’s at 52 Summer (all floors), Paramount Theater, Visitor Center and Hemenway dormitory. In addition the committee purchased tournaket kits for every ECPD officer and is currently sponsoring narcan kits for all officers. In addition to direct sponsorship of safety equipment, the committee is working on the following areas of risk: CPR Training for student, staff and faculty Safety Monitoring Program: Training and education on safe floor/building evacuation Ergonomic assessments and mitigation of ergonomic issues Emergency Management, including areas such an intruder alert, fire, natural disaster Travel Tracker tool for international travel: Enables alerts and notifications, includes medical and evacuation services Notification of worker compensation events and streamline process to report Standardize reporting of risk incidents, modeled via Office of the Arts’ protocols Safety week: Meet ECPD campaign Recently, the college adopted to create risk committee to work in partnership with the Safety Committee. The committee’s primary purpose will be to identify emerging risks, identify best practices to mitigate risk and communicate with Sr. Mgmt with recommendations to reduce risk.
