The numbers reported above include only the estimated number of students who engaged in service through the university’s primary service organization, the Heller Service Corps, in the 2011-2012 academic year. This is a necessary undercounting of the total number of students engaged in some form of community service at Furman, given that there are a wide variety of groups who engage in community service other than the Heller Service Corps. Currently, we do not track the total number of students who participate in community service across the university.
