Total energy consumption (all sources, excluding transportation fuels), performance year :
181,005 MMBtu

Option 1

Total clean and renewable electricity generated on site during the performance year and for which the institution retains or has retired the associated environmental attributes:
4,861 MMBtu

None
A brief description of on-site renewable electricity generating devices :
Furman installed several photovoltaic and solar thermal panels on campus to generate renewable energy. In September of 2011 photovoltaic cell panels were installed at the Charles H. Townes Science Center, the Lay Physical Activities Center, and added additional cells at the Cottage (which houses the Shi Center for Sustainability). The 31 kW solar photovoltaic array at the Cottage generate enough energy to completely offset the energy used in the building. Additional energy is returned to the grid to be used elsewhere. Solar thermal panels at the Townes Science Center provide hot water for the building.

Option 2

Non-electric renewable energy generated on-site, performance year:
0 MMBtu

None
A brief description of on-site renewable non-electric energy devices:
---

Option 3

Total clean and renewable electricity generated by off-site projects that the institution catalyzed and for which the institution retains or has retired the associated environmental attributes, performance year:
0 MMBtu

None
A brief description of off-site, institution-catalyzed, renewable electricity generating devices:
---

Option 4

Total third-party certified RECs, GOs and/or similar renewable energy products (including renewable electricity purchased through a utility-provided certified green power option) purchased during the performance year:
0 MMBtu

A brief description of the RECs, GOs and/or similar renewable energy products, including contract timeframes:
N/A

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
From GHG report: 156,500 kwh Attributable Solar-electric (https://www.rapidtables.com/convert/energy/kWh_to_BTU.html) converts to 534000166.91 BTU = 534 MMBtu + 4327 MMBtu Attributable Solar Thermal = 4861 MMBtu
