A brief description of the plan:
Within George Mason University's (Mason) Transportation Master Plan, Mason has a transportation goal to reduce single occupancy vehicles on campus by 10% by 2020 from 2010 levels. Mason hopes to achieve this by investing in its transportation infrastructure including improving the network of bicycling routes on campus; supporting bicycle amenities such as more storage and shower facilities; and creating connections to surrounding bicycle facilities in the community.
Mason holds a semi-annual Bike to Mason Day to promote bicycling to campus. On average, 125 people participate in the Bike to Mason Days. Mason is in the process of applying for a Bicycle Friendly University status.
