A brief description of the child care program, policy, or practice:
George Mason University (Mason) has an on-site Child Development Center (CDC) on the Fairfax campus (where approximately 84% of employees work) for children ages 2-5. The CDC is open to the entire Mason community.
The university also offers complimentary access to Sittercity.com for all faculty, staff, and graduate students at Mason. Sittercity.com is an online database of caregivers for children as well as seniors, pets, house sitting, housekeeping, and tutoring. The annual retail price for a subscription to the site is roughly $120; Mason’s corporate agreement with Sittercity.com brings that cost to zero.
A local daycare center near the Prince William campus offers faculty/staff a 5% discount on tuition.
