A brief description of steps the institution has taken to ensure that the purchasing policy, directives, or guidelines are followed:
The College is a decentralized procurement environment. Although functional purchasing areas engage in many green procurement strategies, the College does not have overarching guidelines for its disparate purchasing departments. Departments exercise judgment with regard to the acquisition of goods and services in the context of the environment based on the source, composition of materials, quantity, fit for purpose, longevity of use, and cost analysis. Such consideration, when combined with enhanced product offerings, has led to an uptick of sustainable products purchased by departments for use in campus operations.
