An inventory of food and beverage purchases that qualify as sustainably/ethically produced:
A brief description of the methodology used to conduct the inventory, including the timeframe and how representative samples accounted for seasonal variation (if applicable):
Inventory conducted from total spent by Humber's main food service operator Chartwells and the student run culinary program Longos Faculty of Business for the time period of April 1st , 2021 – March 31st 2022. Chartwells staff filled out the inventory sheet, and for Longos FB, vendors provided velocity reports for the time frame. Our team then went through each product from both inventories and determined whether they would be plant-based following NOVA's guide. Only products for which the sustainable certifications were known by the vendor were included in the sustainable/ethically produced list.
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, food service locations across campus were not operating as frequently as in previous reporting years. Food service began to resume at a closer to normal volume in September 2021.

The Buy Local program which engages and supports local communities by working with local vendors and farmers to bring their products to our dining halls, is an example of such initiatives. Working with local vendors and farmers in communities across Canada supports the Body.Community.Planet commitment to providing food that nourishes the body, strengthens the community, and respects the planet.
