HSU consistently submits entries to the Best Practices Award for CHESC. In addition, HSU submitted two proposals to the CSU Facilities Management Conference in 2016. The event had an overall conference title "Building a Sustainable Future: Adapt, Lead, Transform". The submitted projects were entitled "Power Down HSU" and "Community Solutions to Food Waste Diversion: HSU’s BiobiN to Worm Farm Program."

1. CSU Waste Officers Conference Call- Sustainability & Waste Officers from within the CSU system collaborate on a monthly conference call to discuss waste, recycling, and composting issues. 2. CSU AASHE STARS Support Group- Sustainability Officers from within the CSU collaborate on a conference call every two months to discuss challenges, experiences, and best practices related to AASHE STARS reporting.
