A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:
The main campus at Humboldt State University is located at 1 Harpst Street, Arcata, CA, nestled in the coastal Humboldt Bay region of Northern California. The University holds one satellite campus in Trinidad, CA (14 miles north of University's main campus), which houses HSU's Telonicher Marine Laboratory. Several of the core oceanography courses are taught at the Marine Lab. In addition, the Schatz Energy Research Center holds a parcel of land approximately 25 miles southeast of campus in Korbel, CA. Called the L.W. Schatz Demonstration Tree farm, the site serves as a field experiment station for forestry researchers, an outdoor classroom for educators, and a demonstration area for forestry extension professionals. Humboldt State is also including in its physical boundary auxiliary facilities and operations of Housing and Dining (located within the boundary of main campus), the University Center (also located within the boundary of main campus), the Natural History Museum (also known as the Figueiredo Building, located approximately a half mile from main campus), the Third Street Gallery (located approximately 6 miles south of main campus in Old Town Eureka), the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center (also located approximately 6 miles from main campus on the Waterfront of Eureka), and the Corp Yard (located about one mile from main campus on Samoa Blvd in Arcata).

Which of the following features are present on campus and which are included within the institutional boundary?:
Present? Included?
Agricultural school No No
Medical school No No
Other professional school with labs and clinics (e.g. dental, nursing, pharmacy, public health, veterinary) No No
Satellite campus Yes Yes
Farm larger than 5 acres or 2 hectares No No
Agricultural experiment station larger than 5 acres or 2 hectares Yes Yes
Hospital No No

If there are features present that are not included within the boundary, provide:

The rationale for excluding any features that are present from the institutional boundary:
Several buildings owned by the University were excluded from the Institutional Boundary. Rationale for these exclusions falls into two categories: a) the building does not experience any kind of functional use and there are no plans for future use, or b) the building is leased out to a third party entity whose primary activity is not related to institutional activities. Accordingly, the following buildings were excluded from total building square footage and total acreage tallies because these facilities do not currently experience any sort of use: Cogeneration Unit, Entrance Gates, and the Water Tower. Furthermore, it was determined that only a portion of the Trinity Annex experiences functional use, and therefore only 7,161 of the total 28,649 square feet were included in the Institutional Boundary. Additionally, the following buildings leased to third party entities were excluded from overall building square footage, including: 14th Street Residence, Union Street Duplex Residence, and the Wells Fargo Building. Finally, the Redwood Sciences Lab was excluded because the use/lease status of this space is unknown at this time.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Although HSU does not host a hospital on-site for inpatient procedures, the University does have a health care facility on-site that is staffed by doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals who are dedicated to meeting the health needs of the student community, promoting wellness and independence, and collaborating with local and regional resources to provide access to comprehensive services. The facility is called the Humboldt State University Student Health Center. Read more at http://www2.humboldt.edu/health/student-health-center-welcome.
