Total percentage of the institution’s employees that use more sustainable commuting options as their primary method of transportation:
35.40

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:
Regular surveys are conducted at HSU to identify commuting and parking practices of the entire campus community, with the response pool including faculty, staff and students. Between November 18th and December 2nd, 2016, investigators conducted face to face surveys of faculty and staff on the main campus. investigators were only able to survey faculty that were available at that time to talk and amenable to answer the survey. Investigators explained the intent of the survey, and that response is voluntary and confidential, and requested consent before asking the survey question. No identifying data was collected. The survey consisted of two questions: “What is your primary means of transportation (more than 50% of trips in an average week) to and from campus?” and “if you commute to campus in a car, do you generally drive alone or carpool?” At the conclusion of this process, investigators reached a total of 209 faculty and staff, or approximately 13% of the total number of employees at HSU. This was determined to be a significant sample size for the purposes of this credit.
