A brief description of the minimum total compensation provided to the institution’s lowest paid employee or pay grade:
Indiana University follows guidelines set forth by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The FLSA is an employee protection act that establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, equal pay, and recordkeeping laws based on an employee's classification. In addition, in order to meet the needs of the IU community in an economy that is increasing the standard of living, IU has increased the minimum wage for temporary employees to $10.15 per hour ($2.40 per hour higher than the state minimum wage).

Additionally, IUS has 2 minimum wages. $10.15 is the minimum for part-time and student workers who are usually short-term and in small numbers as mentioned above. Though $10.15 is the minimum, wages are competitive.

$15.00 is the minimum for appointed staff and full-time positions. This group comprises the vast majority of the workforce.

Adjuncts earn a professional rate in excess of $25 per hour depending on the time that it takes them to prepare a course.

Employees working 30 hours or more are considered full-time employees in accordance with the Affordable Care Act. Health and dental benefits are provided, with a wage of no less than $15.00 per hour.

Employees working 29 hours or less are considered part-time employees in accordance with the Affordable Care Act. As such, health and dental benefits are not provided.

At the time of submission, the Living Wage Calculator lists $21.34 as the living wage for Floyd County, Indiana, where our campus is located. Indiana University Southeast has a minimum wage of $10.15 per hour, which means that the lowest paid employees fall below this value.
