A brief description of the institution’s efforts to support alternative fuel and power technology in its motorized fleet:
ISU Transportation Services utilizes E-85 as the most common alternative fuel in its fleet. In our fleet we have 455 Flex Fuel Vehicles and have specific language in our purchasing documents asking for E-85. This past year, commitment was made for the addition of plug in hybrids and electric vehicles to the fleet as well. In conjunction we have kicked-off a pilot program with ISU parking for the installation and monitoring of two, level two charging units (with each unit having two charging cords) allowing staff and students accessibility to charge personal vehicles during the day and fleet vehicles will charge at night. Transportation Services has been received several awards based upon their work on efficiency and alternative fuel use. A great deal of our alternative fuel is E85 because of our location in the midwest. Awards include: 100 Best Fleets in North America 2016, 2018, 2019; 50 Best Green Fleets in North America 2017, 2019; Government Fleet Award Notable Fleet 2019.
