A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
An assessment of employee well-being, satisfaction, and engagement is offered annually to every employee, through the Adventure2 portal with ISU WellBeing. During the 2021-2022 academic year, 14% of employees completed the assessment.
The assessment covers the following sections (life areas): Reaching Potential, Emotional WellBeing, Physical WellBeing, Capacity for Change, Work Satisfaction, and Health Measures. Once the assessment is completed employees get an overall score, recommendations for things to improve, top strengths and resources, connections and personal and group challenges to take part in to continue professional and personal growth.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:
Results are provided to the University Well-being Leadership Alliance. The purpose of the UWLA is to provide a teaming environment for invested stakeholders across the university to better align well-being priorities and take action in mobilizing the strategic direction for well-being at Iowa State. The goals of the UWLA include: improving the climate with physical changes, recognizing the interconnectedness of individuals and the environment; strengthening the culture by promoting an inclusive community, positive social interaction, and mutual respect; enriching quality of life by emphasizing individual and institutional well-being and addressing determinants of health; creating conditions to continually encourage well-being, engage strengths, and inspire personal development throughout the university.
Each year's results are utilized in order to assist in programming, resource development and advisement to departments related to department-specific opportunities to best assist and support their employees.
