Distrito Tlaplan

Distrito Tlalpan is a collaborative initiative composed of public, private, social, and academic sector actors that promotes, implements, and links projects aimed at the sustainable development of a territory in the south of Mexico City. It aims to be a platform that connects initiatives, capabilities, and experiences that activate innovative and sustainable development of urban communities from the south of Mexico City, attracting and concentrating talents, knowledge, investments, capabilities, and experiences.

Key Areas:

  • Create a territory that attracts, connects, and retains talent, capabilities, and experiences.

  • Consolidate a connected community that activates entrepreneurial and innovative vocations. Integrate centers of intelligence, innovation, and entrepreneurship capable of generating solutions.

  • Promote the rehabilitation, reactivation, and creation of urban and social infrastructure.

  • Encourage sustainable and efficient resource use that impacts the well-being of the community. 

  • Develop and implement management tools that ensure urban and sustainable development.

  • Articulate the capabilities and projects of the TEC communities with the communities inhabiting the territory of Distrito Tlalpan.

  • Strengthen meeting spaces and structures for collaboration and co-creation of local solutions.

  • Link social, public, and private actors to stimulate processes of local economic, social, and cultural development.

Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the national level:

Tec de Monterrey, as co-coordinator of SDSN Mexico, participated in the multi-sector alliance led by the Executive Secretariat of the National Council of the 2030 Agenda of the Ministry of Economy, GIZ México and SDSN México. This initiative launched a national call to articulate the needs of local governments in terms of sustainable development, with leaders of replicable solutions and financing sources. The project articulated 27 alliances which worked during 2022 to implement some of the agreed projects in the identified locations.

International advocacy

Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the international level:
Tec de Monterrey has provisional observer status for the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties. Since 2021, Tec de Monterrey has had a delegation going to Climate COP.

 

In 2022, a delegation of 7 people, including leadership team, faculty and a student, attended COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh to push for greater global climate action ambition and to enhance university leadership for climate action. Tec participated in side event with universities' networks and attended the Alliances for Climate Action Strategic Session.
