A brief description of the plan:
Our Climate Action Plan calls for the following actions to address transportation/commuting related emissions:
• Establish bike and pedestrian standards and plan. To increase biking and walking to and from and around the campus, it is important that the supporting infrastructure is ubiquitous. Creation of standards and a long-term plan ensure this.
To this end, we have identified a standard design for bike racks, and have identified locations for infill of bicycle racks in academic and administrative areas, as budget funding permits.
• Ongoing pedestrian and bicycle improvements. This includes partnering with the City of Ithaca and Town of Ithaca to ensure good connections to the campus.
We have worked with local partners to strategize phased-in improvements in bike/pedestrian improvements.
The bicycle registration system through the Office of Public Safety provides us with valuable information to prioritize locations for bike rack installations.
