The charter or mission statement of the committee or a brief description of the committee's purview and activities :
(1)The President's Advisory Committee on Diversity (PAC-D) serves to coordinate and integrate diversity planning and programmatic initiatives for the College. The primary responsibilities focus attention on ensuring that the College continues to make progress toward achieving the goals of the diversity priority of the Institutional Plan and the recommendations of the Presidential Task Force on Diversity; to serve as a resource to the campus communities/groups/offices advising on how to ensure comprehensive and coordinate delivery of diversity programming, educational experiences and services; and to advise the President regarding the College's commitment to diversity.
(2)The mission of the Diversity Awareness Committee (DAC), and the Diversity Peer Educators, its student affiliate, is to provide educational programs, training sessions, and experiential activities on issues of diversity relevant to our campus community and in our society. The Committee strives through these events to bring positive change to attitudes, values, and behavior. The Committee also explores issues of advocacy and leadership in enhancing the expansion of diversity.

A brief description of the diversity coordinator's position:
The Director of Multicultural Affairs provides leadership and direction in the development and implementation of programs and services designed to enhance multicultural student personal and social development including the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholars Program and the Ithaca Achievement Program. This position serves as a liaison to other College departments to enhance the awareness and appreciation of cultural and racial diversity on the Ithaca College campus. Provide specific services to several segments of the student population -- in particular African, Latino/a, Asian, and Native American (ALANA) students.
