Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Responsible parties for community service-learning: Dr. Steve Grande, Director, Community Service-Learning (CS-L) and Dr. Jamie Williams, Associate Director for Local Community Engagement, Community Service-Learning
The student community service data (from 2017-18) primarily includes full-time undergraduate students, but there are some graduate students and some part-time students included because some programs' records do not differentiate based on status and enrollment. No continuing education students are represented in the numbers.
Information is compiled from CS-L information already tracked with timesheets/service logs and data from groups and units that regularly do community service (i.e., Fraternity & Sorority Life, Social Work, Nursing, Athletics, etc.) For departments that do not track and/or report, estimates were made based on course/major requirements and course enrollment.
Responsible party for staff service information: Mr. Richard Larson, Assistant Vice President for Human Resources, Training and Performance.
Additional information on community service: Three in four JMU alumni surveyed volunteered in their communities in the 12 months prior to a 2016 Gallup-Purdue survey about a number of dimensions shaping their personal well-being. See the full JMU report at http://www.jmu.edu/news/_files/galluppoll.pdf.
