Does the institution host a food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource focused on alleviating food insecurity, hunger and poverty among students?:
Yes
A brief description of the food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource:
Working collaboratively with Financial Aid on campus, the JAC food Pantry reaches out to our student body in need, not only during the holidays, but all year round. Relying solely on donations, the JAC Food Pantry aims to foster long term relationships with the community outside of the JAC campus borders so that we may provide our students with both perishable and non-perishable food items. We also have several “drop boxes” set up on campus where students, staff and faculty members can leave their donations. It does not go without saying that our JAC Food Pantry, receives support from our JAC Foundation, sports teams and career programs, who organize large scale food collections throughout the school year. As the cost of living continues to show an upwards trend, our pantry users are composed of students from all age categories, programs and social situations.
