A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
JCCC provides and hosts a number of cultural events and programs that are open to various combinations of each of the groups listed above. Some examples are an annual Japanese Festival, PowWow, International Education events, Autism Conference, SafeSpace Training (LGBT student and staff training), ESL & ASL programming, Spanish Immersion Retreat, Service Learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. The Leadership Institute and Leadership Alumni have diversity as a competency in the training program so this topic is covered in training, book discussions, speaker events and service learning projects. Staff Development also programs webinars that cover a variety of the topics under cultural competence.
