Percentage of new employees (faculty and staff) that are offered orientation and/or outreach and guidance materials that cover sustainability topics:
100

A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
JCCC Board policy dictates that all new hires (faculty and staff) complete new staff orientation within 90 days of hire, including faculty and staff. Information about signing up for an orientation is included in new hire paperwork and supervisors are supposed to see to it that their employees complete the training. During the reporting period, the mandated in-person orientation contained PowerPoint slides submitted by Center for Sustainability staff detailing recycling and waste diversion efforts as well as surplus and other reuse initiatives that employees can participate in, among other campus sustainability projects as time allowed (approx. 15 mins was allotted). These were presented by Staff Development staff members.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Starting in fall 2013 Center staff began delivering a 30 min orientation segment about campus sustainability during the monthly new staff orientation. New faculty orientation (for full-time hires) includes a presentation on curriculum support and using campus as a living laboratory, among other topics. New part-time orientations cover similar points of interest and highlight our curriculum development grant program's availability to full- and part-time faculty.
