Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Easy Office Cleanout Bins
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
Beginning in 2016, the Center for Sustainability began offering Easy Office Cleanout Bins for faculty and staff in need of a way to empty their office spaces for a move, retirement, or for general cleaning at the end of the semester.
Employees in need of a bin email the recycling and waste minimization coordinator and request a bin, which is delivered by recycling interns. Employees can fill the bins with any non-furniture items in their offices: all paper, books, small electronics; anything they think might be reused. Interns sort materials after pickup and recycle, add to the ROSE (Reusable Office Supply Exchange) store, add to campus book sale stock, or otherwise sort materials with landfill as a last-resort option.
Easy Office Cleanout Bins have diverted approximately 7 tons per year from landfill since 2016.
Which of the following impact areas does the innovation most closely relate to? (select up to three):
