Does the institution offer at least one immersive, sustainability-focused educational study program that is one week or more in length?:
Yes
A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution, including how each program addresses the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainability:
The "Green Oaks Term" is an immersive 10-week experience, in which a dozen students live in a renovated horse barn at our 700-acre Green Oaks biological field station, 20 miles from campus. They take unusual interdisciplinary classes focused on sustainability, environmental sciences, and anthropology. Students participate in field work on the tallgrass prairie, old growth and second-growth oak-hickory forest, lakes, and streams. They complete a final project that explores a focused topic in a range of possible ways: creative work, research, scholarship, or a hybrid approach. Students are a part of building a small, experimental, high-functioning community that is fully integrated into its natural surroundings. Participants are expected, through this experience, to see the world differently, and change their life accordingly. This program is offered every-other year, with the most recent occurring during the Spring 2016 term.
