A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
Sustainability touches new students multiple times during New Student Orientation (NSO). 1) during the informational table fair during move in, sustainability has a table that provides information about sustainability resources and initiatives important to new students, 2) sustainability is one of the NSO "Blaze your Trail" workshops that new students are invited to attend that introduce students to initiatives and co-curricular opportunities on campus. The 60-minute sessions introduces students to multiple opportunities to get involved with the Sustainability Office and provides a forum to ask questions about on-campus resources, and 3) the "Engage and Explore" event geared to new students includes tours and service activities off campus to introduce new students to the history, neighbors, and social and environmental issues around campus. An annual tour of local farms provides an introduction to local food systems and places students can volunteer or get involved in local farms.
