A number of existing sustainability literacy assessments were reviewed including the ASK survey. Items were edited to be applicable to our region and student population. The first survey was given in 2015.

The survey was given to all incoming 2015 freshman as part of the CIRP survey.
A brief summary of results from the cultural assessment, including a description of any measurable changes over time:
The results of the survey showed that 60% of incoming freshman in 2015 had a considerable interest in sustainability and 79%, but only 29% of incoming freshman answered 'very important' to the question regarding Knox being a leader in sustainability.
