The Knox College Student Senate is itself a governance body, and serves roles in many decision making activities on campus. Student representatives, elected by their peers, include the president, VP, secretary, and treasurer, committee chairs and representatives for each student year. Student Senate serves as: a) an open forum to debate a variety of campus issues; b) a platform to make suggestions for improvement on issues and long-standing policy; c) a place for students to ask for budget approvals for their clubs or for events they would like to bring to campus; and d) a means to make the Knox campus more dependent on student thought, opinion, and actions. Senate representatives each sit on topical subcommittees. They are also appointed to serve as voting members on each faculty committee. In addition, Senate representatives serve as full-voting members on the 6 standing committees of the Board of Trustees.

The Knox College Staff Council exists as a positive collective voice to foster a spirit of unity by encouraging the exchange of ideas among college staff in keeping with the mission of Knox College. The Staff Council shall serve as an advisory body which conveys information and makes recommendations to the President regarding interests and concerns of the college Staff.

Yes

A brief description of the bodies and mechanisms through which teaching and research faculty are engaged in governance, including information to support each affirmative response above:
Faculty members are expected to serve on faculty committees as part of their governance responsibilities. The standing committees of the Faculty are: Elected committees -1. Executive (including the Faculty Affairs Subcommittee); 2. Faculty Personnel; and 3. Committee on Budget and Financial Priorities. Appointed committees: 1. Admission, Retention & Placement, 2. Instructional Support, 3. Curriculum, 4. Academic Standing, 5. Athletics, 6. Cultural Events, 7. Student Life, 8. Campus Environment, 9. Campus Diversity, 10. Broadcast, Internet and Publication, 11. Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects Research, and 12. Committee on Faculty Resources Faculty representatives, selected by faculty members, serve as full-voting members on the 6 standing committees of the Board of Trustees.
